Title: Unheeded Prophetess

Introduction: Unheeded Prophetess

Cassandra: A Trojan priestess of Apollo who is cursed by being disregarded.

Women have always been regarded as a powerful being in the beginning. We were treated as goddesses. However, one day, this perspective suddenly changed and now, men are the powerful ones. In the present times, movements for women lead by women show progression in our society. However, I was born during those times where women are regarded as "second best" next to men; or sometimes, never at all. The idea of women's capabilities being disregarded has always been interesting to me because I don't understand the basis of this attitude towards women. Is this because of the patriarchal system from colonization? I don't know. Nonetheless, I do know that I have been disregarded ever since.

Body 1: Growing up

Growing up in a patriarchal system as a woman is like sinking in the middle of the ocean. Even if you learned how to swim, you'll still end up sinking. That's how I felt during the times I try to climb up. For instance, when I ace a test, I am described as studious but never smart. When I paint, I am regarded as someone who is feminine but not an artist. [expound]

Body: Psychology

One of the most notable things that I learned is that observing is a very impactful thing to do. By observing, you'll see how people interact with each other. Because of observing, I saw the way society treated women. For instance, men would often treat women as people who are dumb. They would use flowery words to get what they want. Aside from that, they also use words to instill fear amongst women. These scenarios are somewhat interesting to me. [expound]

Conclusion:

I believe that most women are like Cassandra. Disregarded. Unhear. Ignored. Nowadays, progression is evident. However, it is also evident that women still have to fight their way in society.[expound] I never wanted women to be on top. I want women to be recognized as an equal to everyone. I want to understand everyone and, I believe, that through Psychology, I'll achieve this.

Growing up in a patriarchal system as a woman is like sinking in the middle of the ocean. Even if you learned how to swim, you'll still end up sinking. That's how I felt during the times I tried to climb up. For instance, when I ace a test, I am described as studious but never smart. When I paint, I am regarded as someone who is feminine but not an artist. When I voice out my opinion, I am disrespectful. My feelings were never valid. I never understood that.

One of the most notable things that I learned everytime people disregard me is that observing is a very impactful thing to do. It’s interesting how the minds of others work. This made me realize how powerful our minds are. Positivity, realism, and negative thoughts are all possible ways for us to think. Some ideas pass through our minds quickly and are forgotten, while others are ingrained in our minds and ultimately define who we are.

Consequently, I believe that most women are like Cassandra. Disregarded. Unheard. Ignored. However, nowadays, progression is evident. But, it is also evident that women still have to fight their way in society. Because of these reasons, I want to understand people’s minds. I want to know how much knowledge and influence can control our way of thinking. I believe that having enough knowledge on Psychology can make me understand.

I never wanted women to be on top. I want women to be recognized as an equal to everyone. I want to understand everyone and, I believe, that through Psychology, I'll achieve this.
